Reconciliation in Schools  and Early Learning

Reconciliation Tasmania is partnering with Reconciliation Australia  to introduce the Narragunnawali program to schools and early  learning centres in Tasmania. Narragunnawali supports schools and early learning services to foster a higher  level of knowledge and pride in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories,  cultures and contributions.

 Join the Narragunnawali Community

Member of the Narragunnawali community have access to an interactive  platform that contains:
• an online tool to develop a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)
• curriculum resources aligned with national and state/territory school and early learning frameworks
• a wide range of professional learning resources aligned with national professional teaching standards

Workshops are scheduled for:

Burnie:          Monday August 20th -       Burnie City Council           10am – 1pm & 4pm – 6pm
Launceston:  Tuesday August 21st -       Aboriginal Elders Council of Tasmania,
                                                            Chalmers Hall           10am – 1pm & 4pm – 6pm
Hobart:          Wednesday August 22nd - Dominic College, Glenorchy             10am – 1pm & 4pm – 6pm

Reconciliation Action Plans
A RAP demonstrates to the community that your school or early learning service is forward thinking about reconciliation and committed to making positive change. Narragunnawali guides teachers, educators and community members through the development and implementation of a RAP. The process is flexible and can be tailored to meet the needs of the school or early learning services, and the local community.

Curriculum Resources
Narragunnawali provides resources to promote reconciliation and to strengthen children and students’ knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders histories, cultures and contributions. The resources are aligned to the Early Years Learning  Framework and the Australian Curriculum and can be used as is, or  adapted to suit the local context

Professional Learning
Narragunnawali provides a wide range of professional learning resources for teachers and educators to support the implementation of reconciliation initiatives in the classroom, around the school and with the community. These resources assist teachers and educators to meet the National Quality Standard (early learning  educators) and the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (primary and secondary school teachers

Relevant professional standards for teachers include:
Focus Areas; 1.3, 2.4, 4.4, 6.1, 6.2, 7.1 & 7.4
