Children's Programs: Campbell Street

In 1994 Lady Gowrie Tasmania extended its children's services program to include the Campbell Street site. The centre was established as part of a community capacity building initiative. The model was to establish a child care service, a housing complex and a community house in the inner city in close proximity to schools.

Programs

The centre offers full-time and regular part time care for children of Birth to 7 years of age for 51 weeks of the year. The Centre is licensed by the Tasmanian Department of Education for 74 children and registered with the National Childcare Accreditation Council.

Program Planning

The staff meet regularly to plan programs that meet the high quality indicators of the Quality Improvement and Accreditation System (QIAS).

Program Planning is informed by the Department of Education's Essential Learning Framework and focuses on the five learning areas identified in this document:

  • Thinking
  • Communicating
  • Personal Futures
  • Social Responsibility
  • World Futures

Primary Care Giving is a feature of the programs. The main goal of primary caregiving is to foster secure attachments with children and to build strong partnerships with parents.

Meals

Lunch, morning and afternoon tea are provided. The cost of these meals is included in the fees. The centre has attained 'Start Right Eat Right' accreditation which means children are offered meals that meet the recommended dietary guidelines by recognised authorities.

Fees and Accounts

Fees are charged on a sessional, daily or weekly basis and are payable daily, weekly or fortnightly. EFTPOS, Bpay and Credit Card facilities are available.

Hours of Operation

Long Day Care: 8am - 6pm (Monday to Friday)

Sessional Care: 8am - 1pm or 1pm - 6pm (Monday to Friday)
