Lady Gowrie Richmond Education and Care Centre
 
Lady Gowrie Tasmania commenced the sponsorship of Richmond Education and Care Centre in February 2005. Originally established to provide occasional care, the centre is now a long day education and care centre. The Centre is situated in a unique rural setting of the beautiful historic village atmosphere of Richmond.
 
The design of the centre facilitates a continuing indoor/outdoor program where children are supported in the development of environmental awareness. Children also have an opportunity to access a culturally rich community on regular walks.
 
Vertical grouping (all age groups combined) enhances children’s social competencies and provides opportunities for scaffolding of learning and the development of empathy.  Being located on the Richmond Primary School site supports a collaborative approach to education and care for young children.
 
Operational details
 
The Centre offers full-time and regular part- time education and care for children from birth to five years of age, for 51 weeks of the year. The hours are detailed below:
 

• Long Day Care:   8.00am – 6.00pm (Monday to Friday)
• Sessional Care:   8.00am – 1.00pm or 1.00pm – 6.00pm (Monday to Friday)
• Before and After Kinder Care (determined by the schools’  Kindergarten hours) 

 
The Centre is closed between Christmas and the New Year and on gazetted public holidays. 
 
Snacks
 
Morning tea, afternoon tea and late afternoon tea provided, with the cost included in the fee structure.  Families provide a lunch box for their child.
