Lady Gowrie Norwood Education and Care Centre

This purpose built, 52 place long day education and care centre was established in 2005 on the Norwood Primary School site. Funding to build the Centre was provided by the Tasmanian Government, Department of Education under the Child Care in Schools Program.

Being co-located on the school site provides the local community with a holistic approach to education and care plus provides opportunities for partnerships to enhance positive outcomes for children.

Close links with the school community support children with regular access to the school facilities, including the Library and music sessions. These early literacy and music experiences form a sound foundation for the future.

Regular walks across the oval to the surrounding bushland provide children with an opportunity to engage with the natural environment and develop a strong environmental awareness.

Natural lighting and subtle colours combine to enhance a calming environment where children actively engage in a variety of learning experiences.

With the after school care program on site, families have a seamless approach to the provision of care and education in this community.
