Lindisfarne

Lady Gowrie Lindisfarne North Education and Care Centre

In February 2000, the Lindisfarne North Centre was established on the Lindisfarne North Primary School site. The establishment of the Centre was initiated by the school community in response to the need for child care to be provided to compliment the education timetable. The Centre now provides education and care for children who not only attend the school but from the broader community.

The Centre is located just off the East Derwent Highway, close to the Lindisfarne village complex and waterfront parklands. With distant views of the Tasman Bridge and Mount Wellington, the Centre is only ten minutes by car from the Hobart city centre.

The early learning environment has been planned to engage children in experiences which foster creativity, curiosity and enquiry. The outdoor environment provides a balance between open spaces and places for imaginative play.

Being a small unique program for preschool aged children, it is an ideal preparation for the transition to school.   Working closely with the Kindergarten program, children are able to establish relationships with peers with whom they will continue on to school, as well as become familiar with the school environment.

Close links with the school community support children with regular access to the school facilities, including the Library. These early literacy experiences form a sound foundation for the future.
