For 70 years Lady Gowrie has been operating an Education and Care Centre in Battery Point. Established by the Federal Government as a best practice demonstration model for early childhood education and teacher training, the centre is located in the heart of historic Battery Point within the Salamanca precinct.
Its close proximity to art galleries, theatres and expansive parkland, provides children with the opportunity to explore and gain appreciation for the rich cultural environment. The location is ideally situated within a short walking distance from the Hobart city centre.
The outdoor play space was redeveloped in late 2007, and was designed specifically to provide children with the opportunity of challenge in a safe environment. This play space has become a demonstration model for other early childhood outdoor play environments.
Lady Gowrie Child Centre at Battery Point is unique as it also provides a on government registered Kindergarten on site.
