Lady Gowrie Alanvale Education and Care Centre
The operation and management of the centre, situated on the Newnham campus of the Polytechnic, was transferred to Lady Gowrie Tasmania in April 2005. Formerly operated by TAFE Tasmania, this purpose built centre was established some years ago as an early learning centre with design features which reflect a respectful and supportive environment for children and education and care professionals.
Expansive glassed areas invite children to view the world from many different aspects. A reflection pond invites regular discussion amongst the adults and children which supports emerging language development and thinking skills. The outdoor environment offers children many opportunities to run, hide, climb, create and explore.
Operational details
The centre offers full-time and regular part time care for children from birth to five years of age for 51 weeks of the year. The hours are detailed below:
Long Day Care: 7.30am - 6.00pm (Monday to Friday)
Sessional Care: 7.30am - 1.00pm or 1.00pm - 6.00 pm (Monday to Friday)
The centre is closed between Christmas and the New Year and on gazetted public holidays.
Meals / Snacks
Morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and late afternoon ea are provided, with the cost included in the fee structure.
