Lady Gowrie Battery Point Education and Care Centre
 
Lady Gowrie Kindergarten is a unique small early learning program where children feel secure within an environment which supports the development of positive dispositions towards learning. The Lady Gowrie Kindergarten program offers children the opportunity to make friends, be creative, become more confident and independent, learn new things, improve skills and gain new ones.
 
The Kindergarten operates within centre based long day education and care centre which is conducted in conjunction with the education and care program. This supports families in balancing work and family responsibilities, as care is available for the hours outside of the Kindergarten program. The benefits for children include consistent adult caregivers within a familiar environment, as there is no need for children to move from one facility to another and establish relationships with different groups of adults. 
 
The Kindergarten is registered with the Tasmanian Department of Education as a non-government registered school and provides a Kindergarten Program for children who turn four years of age before the 31st December, in the year prior to enrolment.
 
As a registered Kindergarten, the curriculum provided meets the requirement of the Tasmanian Department of Education School Registration Board and at the same time addresses the requirements of the Quality Assurance System.  One of the requirements for School Registration is that the early childhood teacher engaged for this program holds current teacher registration.
 
The program operates from the Battery Point Education and Care Centre site. Annual enrolments are invited from families accessing existing Lady Gowrie services as well as the broader community. An advantage for working families is the availability of care during non-kindergarten times.
 
Operational details
 

• Kindergarten: 9.00am - 3.00pm Monday, Tuesday and Thursday (school terms only)
• Child care is available from 7.30am and after 3.00pm during school terms and from 7.30am-6.00pm during school holidays.

 
The Kindergarten and Child care is closed on gazetted public holidays. 
 
Meals/Snacks
 
Morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and late afternoon tea are provided, with the cost included in the fee structure.
