Home Based Education and Care provides quality care in the homes of registered carers. Home Based Educations and Care offers learning and development in a safe, secure and stimulating environment for children from birth to twelve years of age.
Educators are registered with Lady Gowrie Tasmania and supported and monitored by staff from the Lady Gowrie Home Based Education and Care Co-ordination Team. Educators are located throughout the suburbs of southern Tasmania.
Home Based Education and Care is regulated by State and Federal Governments for quality standards. Eligible families can register for Child Care Benefit to reduce the cost of care and education.

To enrol your child with Lady Gowrie Home Based Education and Care Scheme, please make contact with the Placement Officer on 62 233238 to discuss your care and education needs. An interview can be arranged with a potential home based educator.
Become a Home Based Educator
Lady Gowrie Home Based Education and Care Scheme welcome new or existing educators from all areas. If you have experience in caring for children, can provide a secure and family focused environment and want to build your own home based education and care business, we can provide support to get you started.
High level assistance and support can be provided along with training and resourcing as you work through the registration process. Whilst no formal qualifications are required to become an educator, some experience with children is very beneficial.
As safety and health are a priority for children in Home Based Education and Care, there are guidelines and standards in place to cover the home environment (indoors and outdoors) and each criteria must be met prior to commencing. The Co-ordination Team can assist in accessing grants and interest free loans to assist with setting up costs (conditions apply).
